"Homeland safety and security starts at home, here in Hustisford."
A local Neighborhood Watch program is a citizen based partnership between Village residents and police officers. With some informal training and increased awareness, citizens can serve as the 'eyes and ears" of public safety in Hustisford.
Neighborhood Watch is based upon the concept that when people take a "good neighbor" approach to being watchful in their neighborhood and community, they can cause police officers to be more effective in confronting suspicious behavior and controlling crime.
Neighborhood Watch will increase the number of situations where a citizen report of a suspicious act, person, or vehicle will help police intervene in the commission of a crime or assist someone in need.
Neighborhood Watch will assist in sending a message to local citizens on how to contact the police or how to access information that will make Hustisford a safer community.
How to start a Neighborhood Watch Group
Chief Link will initiate your formal group to host a meeting and facilitate explanation of the Neighborhood Watch concept and benefits of neighbors working together.
Invite residents to participate at meeting explaining that good home security, a watchful concerned attitude, and neighborly cooperation is the best crime prevention tool invented.
Assist the Police Department in preparing Neighborhood Watch packets that are presented to all participating members.
Promote Neighborhood Watch materials such as; literature, signs, forms, window decals, web site link, etc...
Chief Link has taken a proactive approach establishing the Community Awareness Initiative and the Hustisford Police Department web site "blog".
Together let's take the next step in making Hustisford a safer place to work, live and enjoy.
