Community Awareness Initiative The Community Awareness Initiative was the first project developed by Chief Daniel Link as a proactive approach to address community issues. A Group User list has been established to send an E-Mail message to Community Leaders, Business Owners and Concerned Citizens. When an issue of importance arises Chief Link will send out an E-mail to this group. This will aid and assist in the rapid and accurate collection, exchange, and dissemination of information relating to crime and criminals, emergencies and other vitally important information of Police, Emergency and Community nature. If you are interested in being added to the Group User list please contact Chief Link at: DLink@Hustisfordpd.com Include your contact information: Name and E-Mail address
2012 Blog- The blog was started as a way for Chief Link to provide the community with information. The blog gives a brief description of calls for service handled by the Hustisford Police Department Officers. The blog continues to be an awesome tool for citizens to be aware of what is happening in the community. In 2012, the blog has been receiving approximately 300-350 visits per month. Officers are told on a weekly basis that citizens enjoy viewing the blog to see what is "going on in Hustisford" and that citizens are amazed at everything that happens in this small community.
We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to assist you.
In brief, you should know that the effectiveness of your Police Department depends upon the involvement of citizens. We must all work together to make our home and work place, the Village of Hustisford a safe, professional community.
National Night Out
Stressing safety in the Hustisford community, along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, Hustisford will celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special village-wide events such as cookouts, visits from local officials and law enforcement agencies and youth events. Hustisford will be joining communities across the nation when Lake street will be closed to traffic from north of the Laundromat to Juneau street between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Karen Kuehl is organizing the Husty Booster Club food stand making grilled food plates a delicacy for your dining pleasure. With a Maxwell street atmosphere merchants will be selling their wares. An additional Farmer’s Market night will bring fresh produce to area residents along with the items customarily available during the Saturday morning farmer’s market on Hustis Street.
The cooperative efforts of the Sinissippi Recreation Department and the Hustisford Police Department will present the annual Bike Rodeo for the youth of the village. The first 50 registrants will receive a bicycle helmet made possible through a grant that was obtained by Police Chief Dan Link for the Hustisford community from the firm of Habush, Habush and Rottier S.C., a law firm with offices in many Wisconsin cities. The youth of the Hustisford Community is its most precious asset and this donation will be an effort to keep young bicyclists safe. Learning the principals of bicycle safety can help to prevent serious injury to the young riders.
The Sinissippi Recreation Department will donate 2 bicycles and Socialettes 1 bicycle to be raffelled off to 3 lucky winners at the conclusion of the Bike Riding Skills Course. You must be present to win.
Chief Link has also arranged with the Dodge County Sheriff Department to have an officer-dog team visit and introduce this service to the community as part of his community policing goals. The officers of the department will be providing finger printing of children that could help in locating a child in the event of abduction. This is a pro-active service to area residents. Community Watch packets will be available to those who are interested. This packet designed by Chief Link has valuable information for each household.
Fire Chief Matt Pieper along with the paramedics and the Hustisford Fire Department personnel will bring their equipment to Lake Street to demonstrate the preparedness of the department to keep residents safe when responding to a call for help.
Hustisford is a safe community. This evening is designed to bring together residents and personnel of the public service agencies serving the community. It is also a great opportunity to meet your fellow neighbors and introduce yourselves because Community Watch is designed with you in mind.
Thanks to all of the people who worked to make the Hustisford National Night Out a success! Many Village residents came out to show their support for public service agencies. We thank you for your support. We are excited to bring new ideas for next year to grow the event. See you next year!
Sgt. Greg Kaepernick was involved in the annual Community Fair at Hustisford High School. He enjoyed meeting with Village residents and school district students.
